Latvian former president tours historic core of Baku

Special envoy to the Secretary General on United Nations, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union, Latvian ex-president Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga has toured the Icharishahar, Inner City, historic core of Azerbaijan's capital.

While strolling along the Icharishahar, Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga was informed about the history of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve, which is included in UNESCO`s World Heritage List.
She visited the Palace of Shirvanshahs, built in early 15th century and considered as one of the landmark architectural monuments of Azerbaijan.

She also visited the 12th–century Maiden Tower and Bukhara and Multani Karavansarai.
