Azerbaijani Transport Ministry announces preliminary pricing for new London taxi services in Baku

According to the Transport Ministry, the first batch of new taxis will be brought to Baku during this month. In general, their number will increase to 3,000 units.

According to preliminary data, while boarding the new type of taxi, passengers will pay two manat. This amount includes the first three kilometers of the trip. After that, the cost of every three kilometers will be additionally paid, and will cost 70 qapiks.

"This is still preliminary pricing; it is possible that some minor amendments will be made in them. But for the present we can be proceed from these figures," the source said.

According to him, the new taxis will also be ordered. According to preliminary data, the cost of the order will also be included in two manat.

A private company will operate on new taxis fleet, whose name is not disclosed before the start of operation of the new taxis. A source at the Transport Ministry didn't rule out the possibility that the taxi drivers will work for a fixed salary without setting a daily plan.

Earlier the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry's spokesman said Namig Hasanov said that it is planned to bring 3,000 vehicles for Baku. But if this number fails to meet the needs of the capital, foreign cars of another brand may be involved.

Over 7,000-8,000 taxis, mostly Daewoo Nexia and Lecetti, will be brought to Baku and Azerbaijani regions.
