German university to host week of Azerbaijani science and culture

Within the cooperation with the Berlin Humboldt University, from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, Azerbaijan plans to conduct a week of Azerbaijan science and culture at the University, Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

As part of the events, there are plans to conduct international conference, which will be attended by prominent European scientists, who conduct research activities on Azerbaijan. Also it is planned to conduct a youth forum, organize numerous cultural events, concerts and exhibitions.

A department of Azerbaijani history started functioning this year at the Berlin Humboldt University, one of the leading universities in Germany.

An agreement to open the department was signed last year between the former rector of the Berlin Humboldt University Christoph Markshiesom and Azerbaijani ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov.

The main purpose of opening this department is to promote the history of Azerbaijan, its teaching, conduct research activities, cooperation with relevant scientific institutions of Azerbaijan for the study of the history of Azerbaijan and scientific leadership in scientific research, as well as the protection of diplomas and dissertations related to the history of Azerbaijan, exchange of students, researchers and teachers.
