Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society holds blood donation campaign

A blood donation campaign dedicated to the 91st anniversary of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was held on Thursday. About 100 volunteers donated blood at the Azerbaijan Technical University.

Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society President, MP Novruzali Aslan donated blood to open the event and thanked everyone who supported the “noble initiative."

The members of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society and volunteers visited the grave of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honorary Cemetery.

Flowers were laid on his grave and the graves of martyrs. March 10 is celebrated as the Day of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent in accordance with the decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev dated April 7, 2008.

The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society has seven regional centers, a district committee in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and its regional and municipal committees, 83 regional and municipal committees. The society unites more than 290,000 members and nearly 17,000 volunteers.

The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society focuses on the development of the humanitarian sphere in the republic. The main objective of the national society is to provide services to poor families, people affected during natural and manmade disasters, displaced people, free social and medical and humanitarian assistance, and other important services.
