Special service agencies of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria discuss prospects of cooperation

On invitation of the minister of national security of the Azerbaijan Republic, lieutenant general Eldar Mahmudov on April 18-20 director of the national intelligence service of Bulgaria, lieutenant general Kircho Kirov has visited Baku.

In the frame of visit, today Minister Eldar Mahmudov has met Kircho Kirov. Having remembered the previous meetings and fruitful dialogues with the director of the national intelligence service of Bulgaria, Minister Mahmudov said that this visit will contribute to the further development of cooperation between relevant structures of two countries, the ministry's public relations center said.

At the meeting, discussed was the question of combat against transnational organized crime, including against terrorism and drug trafficking, migratory processes and questions following from it. The sides noted value of mutual exchange of experience and data in connection with energy safety, underlining importance of informing and intensification of meetings of experts between bodies of special services of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.

Minister Eldar Mahmudov spoke about problems of security, current operative conditions and factors influencing it, in particular, about measures carried out by Azerbaijan in the field of combat against the international terrorism. He has in detail informed on the complications caused by the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and also the uncontrollable territories which have been resulted by the conflict.

The director of the national intelligence service of Bulgaria Kircho Kirov has expressed satisfaction meeting with Minister Eldar Mahmudov and development of relations between bodies of special services of two countries. He noted that is happy with results of the discussions on pressing questions in the field of maintenance of interests of security of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, expressing confidence that the dialogue and information exchanges will benefit further strengthening of relations of two countries.
