"Shashlik has become a traditional meal of Latvian holiday Ligo and a part of summer entertainment. So, we decided to celebrate the day of Ivan Kupala with world record and made the longest shashlik", trade center manager of Riga Plaza Iyeta Priedite said.
A special brazier was made for the longest shashlik whick required several tons of metals. The brazier's production took a week. Moreover, a special skewer was made which reached 150 meters. The longest skewer was divided into 150 parts which could be reunited easily.
While roasting the shasklik, the smoke was visible in 1 kilometer and could be smelled from 200 meters.
Heretofore, the longest shashlik was made in Russia's Karachay-Cherkessia in 2009 (120 meters long) and in Ivanov (140 meters) in June 12, 2011.
