FIDE names Azerbaijan’s best grandmasters

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) announced the official rating list of the strongest players in the planet in 2011. Teymur Rajabov become the strongest Azerbaijani grandmaster (2773), which occupies the 5th place in the list. Vugar Hashimov (2761) rose from 11th position to 10th and Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2733) rose from 18th place to 14th.

Azerbaijan’s grandmaster Eltaj Safarli occupied the 132nd place (2638), Rauf Mammadov (2636) -138th position  and Gadir Huseynov (2634) - 146th. Azerbaijan rose from 10th place to the 8th with an average index of 2644 in the team standing.
