Azerbaijani shooter reaches finals of prestigious tournament in Germany

Competitions as part of the 26th international annual ISAS tournament are underway in Dortmund, Germany.
Azerbaijan is represented by Olympic medalist Irada Ashumova, medalist of European junior championship Nigar Bagirova as well as Ruslan Lunev and Rasul Mammadov at the competitions.

Ruslan Lunev and Rasul Mammadov have already made in two types of programs. Their shots from the air pistol were success. In a tense rivalry with 42 shooters from different European countries Ruslan Lunev was able to get into finals among eight participants, ahead of many well known snipers.

In the finals, the Azerbaijani shooter scored 97.9 points and won 6th place with 671.9 points. This can be considered a major success given the traditionally high status of the tournament.

Multiple European champion Leonid Ekimov from Russia won the 1st place followed by Olympic champion from Ukraine Alexander Petrov and another famous Russian shooter Alexei Jaskiewicz respectively.

Rasul Mammadov took 13th place with of 568 points in a qualification, which can also be considered a success, given this athlete’s lack of experience of international competition.

Earlier Lunev and Mammadov were shooting with a small-caliber pistol, which earned them 10th and 1 th place among 37 participants.
