President of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) for judo has praised Azerbaijan`s efforts to develop the sports in the country.
Jean-Claude Prieur spoke to a press conference in Baku, dedicated to the Challenge Cup judo tournament due to take place in the Azerbaijani capital in October.
“The tournament will be a preparatory event for the 2012 London Olympics, and the fact Azerbaijan will host such an important event shows how much importance the country places to developing judo.”
“Azerbaijan has big experience in hosting internationally important sports tournaments.”
Prieur said the Challenge Cup would involve judo fighters from 12 countries, adding for the first time the tournament will see participation of disabled athletes.
