The Azerbaijani and Turkish Neftchi and Galatasaray football clubs have signed a cooperation agreement today, Galatasaray Sporting Director Adnan Sezgin said at a news conference in Baku. The sides have discussed opening exchange programs for young players and training Neftchi coaches at the Galatasaray club, he said.
"The main aim of the talks was to increase cooperation between the two clubs and to get rid of any misunderstandings that arose between us in connection with Melchiorre Giovanni," Sezgin said. "This issue has already been resolved."
Earler, it was reported that Giovanni had been invited to Istanbul for negotiations. New head coach Georgi Haji had wanted Melchiorre as a physical and preparatory assistant.
Sezgin added that a friendly match between Neftchi and Galatasaray will take place during their training in Antalya in January. Galatasaray is also in talks to cooperate with other Azerbaijani football clubs, he said.
