Azerbaijan couple to join Russian figure skating championship

Russian figure skating championship which selects athletes for participation in the main start of the season - the European Championships (January 26-30 in Bern, Switzerland) and World Cup (March 21-27 in Tokyo, Japan), has got underway in Saransk.

The highest rivalry in the tournament, which is conducted in the capital of Mordovia for the first time, is expected in the tournament of sports couples and dance duets, including a couple from Azerbaijan Julia Zlobin and Alexei Sitnikov.

The championship involves 11 sports couples, 9 dance duets, 16 single men athletes and 17 single woman athletes, most of whom the current tournament will be the first official start in the new Olympic four years.

Azerbaijani dancing couple Julia Zlobin and Alexei Sitnikov won the Estonian Championship in the city of Narva on December 18-19.
