Azerbaijan to host national sports climbing championship

Azerbaijan will hold the national sports climbing championship on natural terrain.

The championship organized with the support of the Azerbaijan Air and Extreme Sports Federation (FAIREX) and the Youth and Sport Ministry will be held on natural rocks near the Laza village in the Gusar region on May 20-22, the FAIREX said.

The competition will be attended by athletes of clubs of Salavat from FAIREX, Zirvə, A + A, Ekosport, Climb-club AND AMEAST from the Azerbaijani Tourism Institute, AzDBTIA from the Azerbaijan State Physical Culture and Sports Academy, "Sports Club of West University, as well as athletes of different organizations.

The competition to be attended by more than 60 athletes will be held in two disciplines (difficulty and bouldering).

FAIREX invited from a Turkish specialist for the organization of distance and route upon the

recommendation of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).

The holding of such events by FAIREX in Azerbaijan has already become a tradition. These events help to improve climbing technique of athletes, study an experience of different countries in this area and expand relations between international organizations on hiking, rock climbing and ice climbing and a federation.
