Azerbaijani gymnasts return from European Championship - UPDATE - PHOTOS

Azerbaijani gymnasts have returned from the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Minsk.

According to the competition results, the team of Azerbaijani juniors’ group won bronze medals at the continental championship. The final rope exercise results were as follows: Russians ranked first (27.100 points), Belarusian gymnasts ranked second (26.500 points) and the Azeri team ranked third (25.825 points).

The Azerbaijani junior group won bronze medals at the 27th European rhythmic gymnastics Championships.

The junior groups competitions of the 27th European rhythmic gymnastics Championships finished in Minsk today. Following the final rope exercise, Azerbaijan ranked the third in the team event with 25,825 points. Russia won the first place (27,100 points) and Belarus - the second (26,500 points),

The Azerbaijani junior group included Lala Yusifova, Aisha Mustafayeva, Mansura Bagiyeva, Aynur Jabbarli, Sabina Garatova and Siyana Vasilyeva.

The Azerbaijani gymnasts performed with a rope under the soundtrack of the City Lights movie and their dresses were designed in the style of Charlie Chaplin's image, with a shirtfront and butterfly bow tie. The Belarusian public enjoyed the program of the Azerbaijani gymnasts.

Azerbaijani athlete fourth in two finals at Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships

Azerbaijani athlete Aliya Garayeva became fourth in two finals in exercises with a ball and a hoop at the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships in Minsk.

In the exercises with a ball Azerbaijani athlete received 27.500 points from the judges, yielding to Belarus gymnast Lubov Charkashyna (28.450 points) and two Russians - Evgenia Kanaeva and Daria Dmitrieva (28.350 and 27.575 points respectively).

In exercises with a hoop Alia Garayeva scored 27.725 points, which also didn't allow her to climb the podium. The first and second places were taken by Russian athletes: Evgenia Kanaeva (29.450 points) and Daria Kondakova (29.025 points). The bronze was taken by Belarusian gymnast Love Charkashyna (28.200 points).

Azerbaijan ranks fourth in Euro 2011 Rhythmic Gymnastics

The qualifying competitions of the 27th European rhythmic gymnastics Championships for individual senior and junior groups finished in Minsk. Athletes competed in exercises with clubs and ribbons.

Following all four types of programs, Azerbaijan ranked the fourth in the team event with 211,050 points. Russia won the first place (230.800 points), Byelorussia - the second (223,125 points) and Ukraine - the third (214,200 points).

The finals among the junior group teams will be held today.

As for individual performances, Azerbaijani Team Leader Aliya Garayeva will perform in two finals: with a ball and hoop.
