Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers grabbed 5 gold medals at the International Gold Grand Prix tournament dedicated to Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev. According to Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, winning 5gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals the Azeri team ranked 1 in a total medal count.
The gold medals came from Mahmur Mahammadov (55kg), Zalimkhan Huseynov (60kg), Jabrayil Hasanov (66kg), Sharif Sharifov (84kg) and Khetag Gazyumov (96kg). Another Azeri wrestlers Aghahuseyn Mustafayev (60kg) and Ashraf Aliyev (74kg) grabbed a silver medal, while Togrul Asgarov (60kg), Aleksandr Gostiyev (74kg) and Jamaladdin Mahammadov (120kg) a bronze one.
In the second day, Azeri women wrestlers have won 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals and ranked 2nd (70 points) at the tournament. Russian women team (80 points) became winner of the tournament, while Japanese (45 points) were satisfied with the 3rd place. According to Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Mariya Standnik (48kg) and Sona Ahmadli (59kg) have won gold medals, Gozel Zutova (63kg) silver and Yuliya Ratkevich (55kg), Olesya Zamula (59kg), Zumrud Gurbanhajiyeva (67kg) and Nataliya Palamarchuk (67kg) have won bronze medals.
The 3rd day of the tournament saw the fight of Greco-Roman wrestlers.
The Azeri national Greco-Roman wrestling team grabbed 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Gold medals came from Rovshan Bayramov (55kg) and Hasan Aliyev, the silver Taleh Mammadov (55kg), Elvin Mursaliyev (74kg) and Saman Tahmasibi (84kg), and bronze medals came from Eldaniz Azizli (55kg), Orkhan Ahmadov (55kg), Kamran Mammadov (60kg) and Vitali Rahimov (66kg).
