Azeri junior boxers to vie for medals in Kazakhstan

Azerbaijani boxers will compete in the World Junior Championships starting on Saturday in Astana, Kazakhstan. The championship to be held at the Kazakhstan Sports Palace will bring together about 600 boxers from more than 50 countries. The tournament will be held in 13 weight categories.

Azerbaijan national team will be represented in 12 weight categories. Rasim Mammadov is coaching the Azeri team comprised of Elnur Shafizade (46 kg), Masud Yusifzade (48 kg), Malik Muradov (50 kg), Nasraddin Mammadov (52 kg), Peyman Yusifli (54 kg), Iman Ahmadli (57 kg), Nurlan Nagiyev (60 kg), Fuad Mustafayev (63 kg), Orkhan Mayilli (63 kg), Nabi Bagirov (75 kg), Rahil Mammadli (80 kg) and Mahammadali Tahirov (over 80 kg).

The final bouts will be held next Saturday. Astana also will host a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) on July 31-August 1.
A draw ceremony for 2011-2012 the World Series of Boxing (WSB) League will be held after the meeting.
