Armenian ruling party's "unhappy society" scenario to apply in next 50 years

Armenia's ruling Republican Party has recognized inefficiency of its political strategy.

Deputy Chairman of the party, Galust Saakyan, said recently that the party did everything possible in 2013, but the situation in the country remains difficult.

Saakyan further said that he considers Armenian society to be unhappy.

"Our society is unhappy, but it is not related to its wealth. Happy people are those who live in a happy society," Saakyan said.

Armenia is doomed to live in difficult and unhappy life even in subsequent years with the current political power led by incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan's Republican Party.

"Republican Party will go from the power, once Armenia is developed," Saakyan said, adding that the day will come after 50 years.

So, Armenians should wait for at least half a century to escape the difficult situation created by the ruling party. It is a sad argument to suggest that the ruling republicans will not even desire the country's development just to retain their power.

Saakyan, personally, has a lot to lose in case of losing the power. In particular, his two sons who currently have top positions may become unemployed.

There is no wonder that Saakyan supports any initiative of the authorities and insults members of the opposition.

"Two of his sons hold high position in the government. Arman Saakyan is the head of state property management and Tigran Saakyan is deputy minister of health," Armenian media reported.

His sons could significantly increase their wealth during their activities in these positions, Armenian media reports say. Arman could raise his wealth from 95 million drams ($234,597) in the beginning of the year to 101.5 million drams ($250,649) at the end of the year. Tigran also increased his wealth from 43.7 million drams ($107,914) to 84.4 million drams ($208,421) at the end of the year. Father Saakyan, however, had an empty bank account, as he declared he only has his salary and pension.

Armenian MPs, in turn, believe that the year of 2013 was remembered as failed and scandalous for the country.

"In 2013, a series of failures for Armenia began with the shameful results of presidential elections and Yerevan Council of Elders elections," MP Aram Manukyan said.

He believes that Armenia's decision to join the the Customs Union, rise in the price of natural gas and the sale of 20 percent shares of "ArmRosGazprom" to Russia due to debt are the main failures of 2013.

Armenian authorities decided to resist outflow of youth from the country with new technologies. As in 2014 Armenia will start to produce Armtab and Armphone. The head of the production company said the main aim of production of Armtab and Armphone in Armenia is to provide young intellectual people with job and resist their outflow.

The situation is really alarming on the background of gloomy migration statistics. Armenian migration program "People in need" testifies that five percent (around 105,000 people) of Armenian people have left the country during the first nine months of 2013. The program sounds the alarm that migration is a catastrophe for Armenia, a notion that the Armenian authorities apparently have not fully understood yet.

So, Armenia's ruling Republican Party's major mission for the coming years will remain amazing Armenians with its fantasies in order to prevent them from leaving the country. Otherwise, the country will become a desert and there will be no one in Armenia to rule over.
