Strategically important Azerbaijan or votes of Armenian voters: Which one is more advantageous for U.S.?

10 November 2010 [17:16] - TODAY.AZ
Armenian diaspora's propoganda actions no longer cause interest among once naive citizens of the Western world. Ten years ago they could listen to heart-rending speeches about the "Armenian genocide" in the "evil" Muslim Turkey and alleged "atrocities" against Armenians in Muslim Azerbaijan with a heavy heart and with sadness in eyes. But now they immediately change subject of the conversation and interrupt any interlocutor trying to tell old stories.

The worthy of note here is not the fact that the world is increasingly becoming aware of the truth about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. What is surprising is that U.S. citizens still wonder why their fellow citizens, (ethnic Armenians to be exact), act contrary to national interests of their homeland, a country that once sheltered their ancestors and gave them food and that now feeds them (in contrast to compatriots in Armenia) and enables them feel like full citizens of a developed country that honors its laws.

It's no secret that cooperation in strategic, economic, trade, foreign policy spheres and in fighting terrorism with Azerbaijan is much more advantageous for the U.S. than cooperation in similar areas of cooperation with Armenia. Yerevan has nothing to offer to Washington. Rather, like a real leech, the Armenian government under a variety of humanitarian objectives annually drains millions of dollars from overseas which actuall ends up in the pockets of officials and criminal entities.

The United States happened to know what Armenian crime represents recently when it became clear that the Armenian mafia, which, according to FBI, acted much more calmly, prudently and unprincipled than the famous "Cosa Nostra", has been robbing old and sick Americans for many years.

Moreover, the stolen millions were transferred to Armenia, where they were successfully invested in real estate, industry, jewelry in addition to filling pockets of highest rank officials.

The relationship between leader of the Armenian criminals Armen Kazarian, nicknamed “Pzo” with the current presidential family of Armenia and former leaders of the country has already been proved. FBI even sent its experts to Armenia to return millions of dollars, shamelessly stolen from ordinary and law-abiding American taxpayers.

The story of “Pzo” and the Armenian government finally convinced the U.S. government and, more importantly, ordinary Americans who is actually a friend and who is, to put it mildly, a snake. Instead of building cooperation with strategically important Azerbaijan  Americans, though of Armenian origin, act contrary to U.S. interests, trying to drive a wedge between Baku and Washington, pushing the United States towards absolutely unpromising Armenia also robbing their fellow citizens at the same time.

Incidentally, the book by Major-General of Azerbaijan National Security Ministry Hafiz Musayev titled "The principle and features of activities of special services in fight against international terrorism" has made an impressive contribution to efforts to raise awareness of Western public of real truth about U.S. partners. The book translated into foreign languages has become popular in American and European public.

The book tells in detail about the acts of terrorism Azerbaijan faced since independence. It describes the work that Azerbaijan had done in fight against international terrorism which also entails Armenian terrorist organizations. The author shares his vision of security of the modern world, and recipes for the fight against international terrorism, for example, offering to create an international network of agents. The book, in the opinion of foreign law experts, can be used as a practical guide for the training of personnel, as well as for judicial and law enforcement bodies.
