As APA reports, it is expected that the Superficial Active Substances Plant will begin production of new ion-exchange membrane hydrate of sodium and chlorine. Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant will reprocess polypropylene, pyrocondensate and heavy tar and Organic Synthesis Plant will start manufacturing ammonia and urea.
The Company plans to put in operation new production fields till 2008 and details of these projects have already been worked out and specialists currently preparing investment requirements of the projects.
It was also informed from the Company that ecological problems will also paid attention to in the process of putting in operation new production fields. So, mercury will not be used in production of ion-exchange membrane hydrate of sodium and chlorine. Mercury was used as a catalyst in production of chlorine established in Sumgait as far back as the middle of the last century and currently there are 200 thousand tons of mercurial tailings removed from production in the territory of the plants.
