The "Green Business and Eco-Leadership Development Program for Women Entrepreneurs" is organized in partnership with Trendyol and with the support of the UN Office in Azerbaijan, Azernews reports.
This two-day program will share green skills and sustainable business practices for women entrepreneurs and will be held within the framework of the "29 Climate Talks: Road to COP29" initiative.
The program aims to support women from the southern region (Lankaran, Astara, Masalli, Bilasuvar, Lerik, Jalilabad) who face significant barriers, such as gender stereotypes, financial difficulties, and lack of access to resources. It will provide women with practical skills in environmentally friendly entrepreneurship and strengthen their knowledge and skills to contribute to both the fight against climate change and local economic development.
In line with the global movement towards sustainability and COP29, the program will include speeches by successful women entrepreneurs, panel discussions on green leadership, and hands-on workshops on social media management, digital marketing, and resource utilization.
The event will begin with opening speeches by Maryam Majidova, co-founder and executive director of Gender Hub Azerbaijan; Vladanka Andreeva, Resident Coordinator of the UN in Azerbaijan; Sadagat Kahramanova, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Issues of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Suheyla Jafarova, Head of Corporate Communications at Trendyol in Azerbaijan; and Member of Parliament Fariz Ismayilzadeh.
Later, successful female entrepreneurs Raftara Shukurova from Lankaran and Kifayat Talibzade from Masalli will share their inspiring life stories.
A panel discussion on "Green Leadership: Women Entrepreneurs and Sustainable Development" will bring together experts from various fields to explore the role of women in promoting sustainable practices. The discussion will highlight the unique opportunities women entrepreneurs have in combating climate change and promoting sustainable development, as well as the challenges they face in building eco-friendly businesses. It will emphasize the importance of green leadership in today's rapidly changing environmental landscape.
In the second half of the day, participants will attend workshops on social media management and digital marketing, followed by a session on promoting green entrepreneurship and sustainable practices in agriculture.
The second day will focus on developing future green skills, with participants working together to identify challenges and opportunities for sustainable entrepreneurship in the southern regions of Azerbaijan. Using the "design thinking" method as a group activity, participants will develop practical solutions based on their business ideas.
