This year, Azerbaijan achieved another global success in the fight against climate change by hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change at a high level, Azernews reports, citing SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva, as she said at an international scientific conference on "Sustainable Environment: Transition to Green Energy."
She said that this event once again demonstrated Azerbaijan's leadership in addressing ecological problems and transitioning to renewable energy sources. Science and innovation are key tools in the fight against climate change.
She noted that reducing carbon emissions and solving ecological problems can only be achieved through new and creative research approaches.
"Azerbaijan places special importance on supporting education and scientific research in this direction. For example, the Innovation and Research Center of Baku Higher Oil School makes significant contributions to developing new approaches on this topic. Additionally, ecological projects implemented in the city of Shusha and other regional initiatives are important steps in this field," she said.
