On January 2 a special conference of CITES (UN Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora) will discuss the issue on lifting the ban on black caviar and sturgeon export in Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan for 2007.
Only Iran was allowed to export 44 tonnes of caviar per year. Caspian states provide countries with black caviar, mostly exporting to the EU countries and Switzerland, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA.
