Health Minister warns head physicians

Today Azerbaijan's Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev chaired a meeting dedicated to problems in the sphere of free and chargeable medical service, distribution of medications to the hospitals and the ways out of the problems.

The Minister stressed positive measures taken in outpatient basis sphere, but said that there are still some problems in stationary service.

As APA reports, Mr. Shiraliyev noted that it is not possible to provide all hospitals with expensive medicines as well as to treat the patients freely.

The minister said the population is not satisfied with distribution of 60 kinds of medications that are considered to be distributed without any charges.

He warned head physicians of the medical institutions on this problem and ordered to provide children’s departments and others with 60 kinds of medications. He said that the Cabinet of Ministers and Tariff Council work on prices for medical service in hospitals. He also noted that the ministry is negotiating with Austria on reconstruction of hospitals.

He said that the number of beds in hospitals is not satisfactory. Shiraliyev noted that in case if the number of beds reduced, they will not make changes to staff table.

The Minister ordered head physicians to make lists on needed equipment and submit their proposals to the Ministry.
