The VI Moscow International Festival of Art “Traditions and Contemporaneity” opened in the Central showroom "Arena" in Moscow. The organizer of festival is the Moscow Public Fund of support of culture and development of the modern art under the aegis of UNESCO with support of Department of Culture of Moscow, Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the International Fund “World for Culture and Peace” and the Russian Academy of Arts.
The international jury of festival is headed by the People’s Artist of the USSR, Russia and Azerbaijan, the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Arts Tahir Salahov, whose works are also shown at festival.
Azerbaijan is represented at the Festival by Maryam Alakberli and Rashad Mehdiyev.
Opening the exhibition, the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on the international cultural cooperation Michael Shvydkoy named opening of festival of arts as significant event. He especially underlined that the exhibition with participation of artists passes under patronage of outstanding artist Tahir Salahov which belongs to two cultures and whose creativity expresses that has laid down in the name of this festival – traditions and contemporaneity.
According to M.Shvydkoy, this festival has proved the necessity, and it is very important, because people live in a context of the most different art - traditional and sharply modern, radical. “Here, masters of different generations, various esthetic views are presented”..
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu highly appreciated the festival, noting that similar projects not only pull together our cultures, but also raise culture of dialogue, interaction, are the important integration process, which the CIS Interstate Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation in every possible way supports.
The vice-president of Russian Academy of Arts Tahir Salahov said that the festival was attended by more than 30 countries, and it is great pleasure for artists from the different countries to meet at this exhibition.
The organizer of festival, the president of the Moscow Public Fund of Support of Culture and Development of the Modern Art Vera Kiselyoa, in turn, thanked all for participation and support of the project.
It is pertinent to note that the idea of festival is to approach art of the different countries and the peoples, to present the original products reflecting color and national traditions, to show all palette of world art, to collect all tendencies and directions of modern culture in one exhibition space.
