Contest on Azerbaijani Mugham Music will be announced

The Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan said that the Consulate General’s Contest Committee will select two winners and they will be awarded cash prizes in amount of $750 for the first place and $250 for the second place.

The council underlined that the contest is open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at colleges and universities in California.

Essays should not exceed 1000 words and should be original, unpublished work that demonstrates fresh, clear thinking and superior quality of expression and craftsmanship. The essays should pay attention to the importance of Azerbaijani Mugham within the culture of Azerbaijan and its contribution to world musical culture

Azerbaijani Mugham “Shur” played in balaban, the national wind instrument was also included in the Golden Records of ANAS launched Voyager I and II spacecraft, which are today the farthest human-made objects from Earth and which contain,a small musical collection (27 songs) representing the Earth’s musical heritage.
