South African star performs on Baku's stage

 A one woman play “A Woman In Waiting” with participation of South African actress Thembi Mtshali-Jones was staged on Monday at the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Russian Drama named after Samad Vurgun.

The show has been organized within the framework of the 2nd Baku International Theater Conference. Prior to the play, Professor Maryam Alizade gave information about the authors of the spectacle. She noted that Azerbaijani audience saw the performance of the South African theatre for the first time.

The one woman play has been written and created by Yael Farber and based on the life of Thembi Mtshali-Jones.

A Woman In Waiting tells of Thembi Mtshali-Jones` separation from her mother as a child, only to continue this legacy of waiting when forced to leave her own baby to mind other people`s children in the white suburbs.

Multi-talented Thembi Mtshali is recognized as one of South Africa`s most celebrated artists, as vocalist, actress, television personality, comedienne and playwright. She was a finalist in the arts and entertainment category in 2002 Tribute award.
