Azerbaijani musicians Mehri Asadullayeva (kamancha) and Narmin Hasanova (Kanun) performed as part of the Dresden Symphony Orchestra in Palestine.
The work combines elements of Arabic folk music, with traditional instruments such as the Arabic violin, oud, kamancheh, darbuka and qanun as well as a European string orchestra. It uses classical Persian melodies with European orchestral textures. The work was premiered by Dresden Symphony, conducted by Andrea Molino, at the Tonlagen festival.
This is the first time since that date that the symphony has been brought to Palestine.
The orchestra will perform in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Jenin with the Dresden Symphony again to be conducted by Andrea Molino.
