Renowned opera singer, Honored artist Afag Abbasova has performed at the 69th Puccini Festival in Italy.
The opera star shared the same stage with world-famous opera singers and conductors at the festival. She became the first Azerbaijani, who performed at this large-scale event.
The Puccini Festival is an annual summer opera festival held in July and August to pay tribute to the Italian composer.
The festival is located in Torre del Lago, Italy, a town located between Lago di Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian Sea, Puccini's birthplace.
"During the festival, I delighted the audience with Giacomo Puccini's masterpieces. I am a big fan of Puccini's music," the opera singer told AZERNEWS.
Afag Abbasova expressed her gratitude to Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as to everyone who supported her.
Famous for her beautiful voice, she is considered to be one of the national opera singers.
The opera star is known for her wonderful range and effortless sound. She is a leading soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
In 2019, Afag Abbasova was presented the Commonwealth of Debuts Prize, awarded to cultural figures of the Commonwealth countries, whose creative achievements have made a significant contribution to the development and popularization of various art forms.
The prize was awarded based on the results of 2018, which was proclaimed in the CIS as the Year of Culture.
The Commonwealth of Debuts award was established by the CIS Council for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund in 2008.
