Renowned pianist Elchin Shirinov has given a concert in Paris, France.
The concert was organized within the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azernews reports.
Vice-President of the France-Azerbaijan Dialogue Association (ADFA) Laurent Poultier du Mesnil addressed the event.
The ADFA Vice-President spoke about the life and work of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who made an invaluable contribution to all spheres of socio-political, economic, scientific, and cultural life of Azerbaijan, and international recognition of the country as a democratic, independent state.
Elchin Shirinov's trio, which includes Yoni Zelnik (double bass) and Karl Jannuska (drummer), presented improvisations of Azerbaijani folk songs "Lachin", "Sari Galin" and others, as well as original compositions.
The special guest of the evening was the popular young French singer ELIA , who, in an improvised form, performed the composition of the People's Artist of Azerbaijan Sara Gadimova "Küsüb getdi". The performances of the artists were met with a storm of applause.
Elchin Shirinov belongs to the new generation of Azerbaijani jazz musicians who combine elements of post-bop jazz, blues, and funk.
The pianist and composer was tutored by great musical talents such as Vagif Sadikhov, Aaron Goldberg, Kevin Hays, Jean Michel Pilc and Yakov Okun.
He went on to give a very individual interpretation of two of the most popular Azerbaijani folk songs, Sari Gelin and Durna, and included his reflective self-penned compositions Waiting and Muse in his set, many of which featured the sound of the Melodica, a wind-operated keyboard that makes an accordion-like sound, which he balanced on top of the grand piano.
Many music enthusiasts from France, Switzerland, Germany, Malaysia, and other countries are already familiar with his unique talent.
