Baku Music Academy and the Russian House in Baku held a musical and poetic evening "My song rushes freely...", dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov, Azernews reports.
At the opening, the deputy head of the Russian House in Baku Dmitry Egorov spoke about the life and work of the poet.
The host and curator of the event, Doctor of Philosophy in Art Criticism, senior lecturer at the Baku Music Academy Alena Inyakina, in turn, spoke about the stylistic features of musical works written by composers based on Lermontov's poems, as well as the history of the creation of poetic lines that formed the basis of the musical compositions that were performed.
The audience was able to enjoy songs and romances by composers from different historical periods: A. Varlamov, A. Dargomyzhsky, A. Spero, S. Rachmaninov, G. Sviridov and others, as well as fragments of the opera "Demon" by A. Rubinstein and music for the dramatic production "Masquerade" by G. Garayev performed by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Anton Fershtandt, soloist of the State Academic Musical Theater Yulia Heydarova, accompanist of the Baku Music Academy Dilara Karimova, artists of the State Choir Chapel Kamilla Imanova and Elyar Aliyev, artist of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Irada Abishli, BMA graduate Aminat Ahmadova, poetess Gunatay Huseynova, as well as a master's student of the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy Gulderai Serzhan.
