Winners of int'l photo contest "Children's Eyes on Earth" announced

The international photo contest "Children's Eyes on Earth," was held under the patronage of the head of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva with the support of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, and initiated by internationally renowned photographer Reza Deghati, founder of "Reza Visual Academy", has concluded, Azernews reports.

The competition aimed to raise awareness about climate issues as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which took place from October 11 to November 2.

The competition invited children and adolescents under the age of 18 to share their views on the beauty of nature, as well as the problems caused by pollution and climate change.

Held under the slogan "I Love Nature, I Fear Pollution," the competition received nearly 3,000 submissions, and a total of 11 candidates were awarded prizes. In the 10-18 age category, candidates from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Malta were awarded first, second, and third place, respectively, along with gifts.

Three photographers from Bangladesh, Iran, Ireland, and the United Kingdom also received honorary awards for their creative and thought-provoking photographs in the same age category.

In the under-10 age category, the top five finalists from Turkiye, Switzerland, France, and Iran were awarded special prizes for their excellent presentations by both the jury and the organizations "Reza Visual Academy," "Deghati Agency," and "Webistan."

Overall, numerous applications were received from more than 50 countries, including Azerbaijan, to participate in the international photography competition. The candidates used interesting photographs to highlight potential solutions and share a sense of responsibility to protect our planet.

The photos of the winners and other participants will be exhibited at a showcase on November 18 at 19:00 at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Many international guests attending COP29 are also expected to join the exhibition.
