Scottish singer Nikola Barkley qualified for the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest national finals in Azerbaijan did not participate in the selection tour yesterday because of health problems, Public TV and Radio Broadcasting told APA. The singer celebrated New Year Holiday at home in Scotland, and fell ill.
Due to the illness she lost her voice: “We got into touch with her and understood that she would not join the selection tours. Barkley can take part in our selection tours next year. She was also upset with this occasion”.
So, 9 singers started to struggle for Eurovision 2011. They performed on Monday. According to preliminary results, Ilhame Gasimova, Aynishan Guliyeva, Eldar Gasimov, Chingiz Mustafayev and Nurlan Novrasli shared the top five. 5 singers will be qualified the final until the last semi-final – January 14. The name of Azerbaijani representative will be known early February.
