5th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival underway in Baku

The Flemish Royal Opera Orchestra conducted by Dmitry Yurovsky performed compositions of Bruch and Tchaikovsky within the 5th international Mstislav Rostropovich Festival in Baku.
The Festival is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan. The concert brought together representatives of the government, diplomatic corps, workers of culture and art.

The Flemish Opera as an opera company was founded in 1988 in Belgium and directed by Aviel Cahn. The opera company operates in two different opera houses in the two Flemish cities, the Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen at Van Ertbornstraat 8 and the Vlaamse Opera Ghent at Schouwburgstraat 3. However, the company shares one orchestra, choir, technical team. The organization is mainly financed by the Flemish government and the city councils of Antwerp and Ghent. Dmitry Yurovsky was born in Moscow and got education in Moscow, then in Berlin. The premiers of the operas Mazeppa, Yevgeny Onegin, Sorceress, Aida were conducted by Yurovsky.
