Test flights and parachute jumping competition among adolescents took place in an aviation center in Azerbaijan’s north-western Balakan region, Chief of the Balakan Aviation Center, Col.-Gen. Meyhaddin Suleymanov said.
He said the competition participants took a month-long training courses in the center. The competition involved seven teenagers aged 12-17 years. They jumped from a height of 1,200 meters and made an independent touchdown. 12-year-old resident of Balakan’s Tulu village Nigar Abdullayeva attracted particular attention.
The first self-jump of 12-year-old girl from a height of 1200 meters was the first jump of this kind not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the CIS. Sisters Leyla and Turkan Aliyeva, aged 14 and 17, respectively, were also involved in parachute jumping making a touchdown from a height of 1,200 meters.
