Sri Lanka has brewed the largest ever cup of tea. The 4,000 litre Viva beverage was unveiled on a cricket field on Saturday and the feat was confirmed by Guinness World Records representative Alison Ozanne, Reuters reports.
Ozanne said: "The previous record was for 3,000 litres which was created last year - just over a year ago - in September.
"That was a huge achievement, but here today they've managed to make even more tea. They aim to have 4,000 litres of tea and it's a very impressive record."
Sri Lanka cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara added: "Sri Lanka's a small country but we've done big things in the world, in our new future after 30 years of strife, a day like this when we are once again establishing a Guinness World Record is very important.
"We're very proud and I think that people will again notice the name of Sri Lanka that's shining very brightly at this moment in the world."
