A homeless man from Utah has discovered that he is heir to a small fortune. Max Melitzer was tracked down by a private investigator yesterday, and told that he had inherited a "significant" amount from his brother, who died of cancer last year.
For the past few years, Melitzer had been homeless and carried around his worldly possessions in a shopping trolley, but P.I. David Lundberg has said that he will now be able to live comfortably.
"He'll no longer be living on the street or in abandoned storage sheds," Lundberg told The AP. "He'll be able to have a normal life, and be able to have a home, provide for himself, and purchase clothing, food, and health care."
"He's still in shock, this came out of nowhere," he explained. "He's a really mellow guy in his sixties, very sweet and more articulate than I thought for a man in his position."
Lundberg had been searching for Melitzer for over two months after being hired by his family's New York law firm.
