400 naked people break world record

A group of 400 skinny dippers claim to have broken the world record for the most nude swimmers in one location.

Earlier this morning, the participants descended on Rhossili Beach in Wales in the nude in an effort to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the National Trust.

The event organisers will now submit proof of the swim to Guinness World Records to try and claim the title from the previous record of 250 skinny dippers.

"I have flown in from Australia to take part, what was I thinking of?" participant Lizzy White told Metro. "But it was great fun and very exhilarating to strip off and dive into the waves, even if they are a lot colder than what I'm used to."

"We hoped for 300 people but in the end we got a lot more," organiser Alison Powell added. "I'm delighted with the turn out."

The event is expected to raise over £5,000 for its selected charities.
