A German woman has survived a collapsing ceiling thanks to a simple bonnet hair dryer.
72-year-old Karin Koellner, from Gladbeck in West Germany, was at the Cut and More salon when the shop's ceiling began to give way.
However, Koellner escaped completely unharmed due to the sturdy nature of the traditional bonnet dryer under which she was sitting, which protected her from falling rubble.
"At first I didn't realize what was happening," she told AFP, following the accident. "You can't hear a thing under the bonnet.
"Then bits of the ceiling broke off! But the dryer worked like a protective helmet."
"I'm just glad nothing worse happened," salon owner Nermin Karagad added.
A police spokesperson has since confirmed that two other people received minor injuries in the accident.
