Andreas Gross: "Winner of election is not owner of Azerbaijan"

The Azerbaijani authorities should organize the elections in the way to achieve the failed side to acknowledge the results, Andreas Gross, the co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee, told at news conference held in Baku on the results of the visit on Wednesday.
The co-rapporteur said at present Azerbaijan is too far from it. "No one trusts each other and every side is sure the opposite side is not right. Political struggle does not mean to be or not be.
One should understand that success in the elections does not make you the owner of the country," he said underlining that the lections will resolve more for economic future of the country.

Gross added that he had never seen a country when despite big investments put the people lived in such poor conditions.

He did not rule out the fair elections to be, but can also witness a bloody resistance. So, everyone should try to make the first to occur, rapporteur added.  

Touching upon the murder of the editor0in-chief of the magazine Monitor the co-rapporteur said that liquidation of a journalist-critic and it was a horrifying milestone for all otherwise-minded people.

Speaking on reveal of the criminal groups headed by Haji Mammadov, high ranking official of the Interior Minister, Gross noted that it was unconceivable for the democratic society.
