The Ambassador Gert Arens will be appointed head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) international observers’ mission in Azerbaijan, head of the OSCE office in Baku, the Ambassador Robin Seaword told the news conference on 22 July in Baku.
Seaword reported, that head of the international observers group is supposedly to arrive in Baku in early September. The office head noted that the Ambassador Arens is an experienced diplomat. “In his time Arens headed the OSCE office in Albania, as well as the international observers mission during the last elections in Ukraine”, Seaword noted. Arrival of first groups of long-term observers to the country is also scheduled for early September. Short-term observers will arrive in Baku some days before the parliamentary elections. «Training programs will be specially held for short-term observers in Baku”, head of the OSCE office noted.
