Azeri politicians comment on the resignation of the Minister of Economical Development

“President’s orders are indisputable”, told Mubariz Gurbanly, deputy of the secretary of ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan while was asked by Day.az correspondent to comment on the recent resignation of the minister of Economical Development Farhad Aliyev.

After him we contacted Etibar Mamedov, co-organizer of Yeni Siyaset political bloc to comment on the situation around the ex-minister. “Farhad Aliyev received what he deserved, he was the symbol of the corruption in Azerbaijan and was busy with everything except economy”, commented. He also doubted that Aliyev will be able to join the opposition. “I can not say for others but he will not stand by my side and it does not matter if he was dismissed or not”.

The third in our opinion poll was Elman Salayev, deputy chairman of external affairs committee of the Democratic Party. “The other thing is interesting; Farhad Aliyev had a reputation of the most liberal member of the current authorities. And his resignation took off from the government the mask of respectability, unity, liberality and democracy”. He also added that Aliyev’s joining the opposition is a question for Aliyev to be asked.

We were also able to get hold of deputy chairman of the Liberal Party Avez Temirkhan who said. “Order of the President of Azerbaijan about resignation of Farhad Aliyev proves that authorities started to make chaotic decisions without giving them a thought”, stated Temirkhan. “It is an evidence of the split between ruling powers which was caused only by the possibility of Rasul Guliev’s return to Azerbaijan. I think that after he was dismissed in order to save himself, Farhad Aliyev needs to join the opposition”.

Last to comment the situation around resignation of Farhad Aliyev was deputy chairman of the Musavat party Gubad Ibadogly. “The fact that Farhad Aliyev was dismissed is not surprising. He had the image of the most liberal representatives of the authority and this rule and liberality are not compatible things. Besides that, according to the information I have, Farhad Aliyev was going to write resignation himself” informed Ibadogly.

“I don’t think that everything will finish only by his resignation. It is possible that some other ministers will be also dismissed”, he commented. Regarding his perspective of what may happen to the economy of Azerbaijan after Aliyev’s resignation he replied: “As I see it, the economy of Azerbaijan will not be affected. Only may be there will be financial repressions against Farhad Aliyev himself.
For example it is possible that soon there will be financial checks of Azpetrol. As for the question of Farhad Aliyev to join the opposition it could happen if everything was limited to his resignation. But how I see it, this is only a beginning of troubles for him. It is possible that soon he will be arrested for financial machinations”, said Ibadogly.
