"Unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan presents a dynamic economic development. Azerbaijan does not depend on any foreign country, an international organization or diaspora," stated the chief of the Press and Information Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Tahir Taghizade.
The statement came as a comment on the US decision to allocate different amounts of financial aid to Azerbaijan and Armenia in year 2006. The US has adopted to allocate $ 35 millions for Azerbaijan, $ 75 millions for Armenia and $3 millions for Nagorno-Karabakh next year.
Regarding the fact of US to allocate the financial aid to Nagorno-Karabakh T.Taghizade expressed the view point of the Ministry: "it should be valued as an aid to Azerbaijani citizens".
"According to the international standards and legislation of Azerbaijan, Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh are citizens of Azerbaijan. The US government assured Azerbaijan many times that their aid is not directed to economic development, restoration of the infrastructure, and capital investment; this aid consists of medicines and medical facilities," said Taghizade.
