Ilham Aliyev is going to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is going to meet on December 22 with the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at an official ceremony of commencement of the Iranian gas delivery to Nakhchivan.

Along with the realization of the project the sides will also discuss the perspectives for expansion of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relationships, underlined Abbasali Hassanov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran

Iranian gas delivery to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the first over the past 15 years, was set up on 3 November. Over 12,000 subscribers will be supplied with Iranian gas in NAR.

Azerbaijani gas has been delivered to Iran since 1 November for provision of the north-east regions of the country. In the initial stage its is planned to import 52 million cubic meters of gas a year, in 2006 - 250 million cubic meters, while from 2007 it is will be increased 350 million cubic meters.

In exchange, the same volume of "blue fuel" has been supplied to Iran through Astara since 1 November 2005 for north-east regions of the country.
