According to AssA-Irada, the talks will take place in the regular format, as part of the ongoing “Prague process”, to be attended by co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group mediating the conflict settlement, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Taghizadeh said.
As for a meeting of the two countries’ presidents, Taghizadeh said it will be determined based on the results of the ministers’ talks whether there is a any need for this. “If an agreement is reached to hold the presidential meeting, its date and venue will be set afterwards.”
Russian co-chair of the Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov declined to elaborate on the details of the upcoming meeting but cited considerable expectations. “The issues that have not been agreed upon to date will be discussed. We hope for great progress after the talks.”
The mediator said that possible stationing of peacekeepers in the region, an issue that came into spotlight a while ago, will not be considered at the London meeting.
The Armenian minister Oskanian told a press conference on Tuesday that the talks between the presidents are due in February.
