Kuwaiti Premier to replace Amir?

21 January 2006 [22:28] - TODAY.AZ
Kuwait's ruling family yesterday agreed that Prime Minister Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah should replace the ailing Amir Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah.

Shaikh Saad was named to succeed the late Amir Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah following his death last Sunday, reports Gulf Daily News.

However, Shaikh Saad has been reported incapable of taking the oath of office due to poor health. But, National Guards head Shaikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah said Shaikh Saad will take the oath and has asked parliament speaker to hold a session.

Yesterday, a large number of ruling family members reportedly visited Shaikh Sabah and pledged him their support.
