Rene van der Linden requires facts on secret detentions in Nagorno Karabakh

President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Rene van der Linden spoke about the situation in Europe, fighting international terrorism, alleged secret detentions in Europe, the cooperation of PACE with the Euro-Parliament, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to the US, the victims of the communist regime, Bird flue, the status of Kosovo and other issues in the press conference today.

As APA informs, responding to the question "Are there secret detentions in Europe?" Rene van der Linden said: "Yes, the investigations are underway and I hope the final report on this issue will be ready in March".

The PACE president required facts while answering the question of Azerbaijani journalist on the existence of secret detentions in the occupied territory of Nagorno Karabakh of Azerbaijan: "Submit facts and we shall investigate".

The president of PACE responding to the question on communist regimes said that he didn't deny the role of that regime in gaining victory in the World War II, however, he stressed the importance of discussing this issue as there are great number of victims of that regimes.

According to him, the human rights are violated and people are living the life of detention in the countries with communist regime. As concerns the cooperation between Euro-Parliament and PACE, Rene van der Linden stated that this issue would be focused on in the session to be held in April this year and also added that PACE had intention to expand and strengthen relations with the UN: "We have the same position-protecting human rights, developing democracy in all countries".

The PACE President also expressed opinion on spending the budget of the Council of Europe. He stated that, the budget was not in big volume, many expenses were spent on the regular visits of PACE Monitoring Committee and other organizations.

The president of PACE was also asked question on condition of Kurds in Turkey in the press conference. Rene van der Linden has stated that, Turkey has achieved some advancement in the spheres of human rights and democracy recently: "The legal issue on Kurds in Turkey will be investigated".

The president of PACE responding to the question on Bird flue in Turkey said that the disease was a great danger for the entire world and all of the European countries should unite their forces to prevent this danger.
