In his recent article, Mekhtiyev speaks about "anti-national, destroying essence of the radical opposition." He reminds on the appeal of the opposition parties to the Council of Europe calling not to recognize the mandate of the new Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation.
According to Mekhtiyev, the rallies tactics of the opposition has also failed. As he notes, not more than 5,000 people gathered at sanctioned meetings and 700-800 for unsanctioned meetings.
To Mekhtiyev's opinion, as there were no premises for a revolution in Azerbaijan, forces from abroad did not support the plans of developments under Georgian and Ukrainian scenarios. By the way, Mekhtiyev quotes the US National Security Council official Matt Brize as saying that the US sees no grounds for a revolution in Azerbaijan, and Washington would not let the revolution to be carried out.
Mekhtiyev cites a number of opposition leaders, who also spoke about impossibility of a revolution in Azerbaijan. According to him, the opposition unity was "artificial" and the post-election events have proven this to be true.
