EU hopes 2006 to be a decisive year in Nagorno Karabakh conflict

European Union hopes that 2006 will be a decisive year in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem as well as other conflicts in the South Caucasus.

As APA informs, European Union Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy, Ms. Benito Ferrero-Waldner told a joint news conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian in Yerevan.

The Commissioner said that OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should make proposals to the conflict sides in the framework of the process: "It is important that both co-chairs and OSCE chairman-in-office, Karel de Gucht have a similar approach to the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict."

Vardan Oskanian said that integration into Europe might create a better atmosphere for the regulation of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
