"Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry will express its position regarding Luxembourg parliamentarians' visit to the occupied Azerbaijani territories and meeting with authorities of the alleged Nagorno Karabakh regime," the Head of President's Office Department for International Relations Novruz Mammadov stated.
"The previously said double standards are still observed. We shall react to this matter too," he said.
According to APA, Mr. Mammadov also commented on Armenians' claims that Nakhchivan belonged to them. Calling this claim nonsense, the department director underlined that Armenians have been publicizing false information regarding Nakhchivan recently. "But I think it is too late. The world community knows Armenians well enough. On the other hand, we are not in the same situation as we were before. Armenians will harm themselves early or late," he said.
Commenting on the European Parliament resolution on the alleged destruction of Armenian monuments in Nakhchivan, Mr.Mammadov called the resolution unfair. "They seem to ignore the ongoing processes in Azerbaijan or showed biased stance on these issues. Regrettably, such tendencies have increased recently. In fact, European parliamentarians should have investigated this place and expressed a right position on this. More than thousand of Azerbaijani historical and cultural monuments which were in UNESCO list were destructed in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. I regret that the European parliamentarians have not been aware of these facts," Mr. Mammadov said.
"Generally speaking, Europe claims that it has the most ancient history and civilization appears to disrespect, but ignore or demonstrate a biased approach to some issues. The publication of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad, the alleged destruction of Armenian monuments in Nakhchivan can be example to this biased approach. The intercivilization dialogue is the topic of discussion at present. Though the West says it is interested in this dialogue some circles are provoking some issues. And such steps strain the dialogue of civilizations, and leads to controversies. It might have dangerous conclusions. If the West doesn't demonstrate a fair position regarding the ongoing processes in the world as well as in our region, it will be its tragedy in the end," Novruz Mammadov concluded.
