Agshin Mehdiyev: "There is no need for CE rapporteur for political prisoner in Azerbaijan"

As APA reports, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Monitoring Committee began to deal with this issue after the COE rapporteur for political prisoner in Azerbaijan, British Malcolm Bruce was not elected to PACE. Ambassador Mehdiyev said the Monitoring Committee always dealt with this problem.

"Simply, when Azerbaijan became the member of the COE, this issue was excluded from general monitoring framework and included into a separate agenda. Now this problem is being closed. If political prisoner problem is on the agenda again, this will be raised in the framework of the Monitoring Committee again," Mehdiyev said.

The Ambassador hopes this problem will never be on the agenda.
