Crime without punishment: on scale of Armenian mine terror

The Agency for the Demining of the Territories of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) has published the latest data on the work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation. It is reported that 359 anti-personnel mines, 290 anti-tank mines, 3079 unexploded ordnance (UXO) were found in Terter, Agder, Aghdam, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Khojaly, Khankendi, Khojavend, Jabrail and Zangilan.

It is also reported that 6,905.4 hectares have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance. The statistics, needless to say, are shocking. She screams that Armenia should have been held accountable long ago. It is quite obvious that sanctions should have been imposed against Armenia for the occupation of 20% of the territories of Azerbaijan, for the genocide in Khojaly, for ethnic cleansing, for ethnocide, urbanism, and for the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage.
But, apart from all this, Armenia should have been convicted of such a crime as mining Azerbaijani territories that were under occupation. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev recently spoke about the scale of this crime on the Armenian side, speaking at the Second Shusha Global Media Forum.

He pointed out that the total number of people killed and seriously injured since November 2020 is about 400 people. Just think about this monstrous figure! But we are talking about the victims of the Armenian mine terror, which we had after Armenia's defeat in the 44-day war, after the signing by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020. The total number of Azerbaijanis who became victims of the Armenian mine terror during all the years of occupation of our lands is significantly higher.

"Unfortunately, the mine maps that Armenia has finally provided to us are absolutely useless, they are not accurate. At the very beginning, when we asked them to provide us with mine maps, they said they didn't have them. Their prime minister told me about it. But then they had to admit that they did have them. However, what they provided to us is absolutely useless," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, speaking in Shusha.

The head of our state, in fact, revealed the hypocritical and deceitful nature of the representatives of the current Armenian government. We have seen how Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has gone through a painful path of personal evolution. The one who shouted in the center of Khankendi that "Karabakh is Armenia, period," eventually had to declare recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh economic region and enclaves.

Pashinyan admitted everything. As the famous joke says, he had no options. But, as we can see, Pashinyan's Armenia pursued a policy of mine terror even after its military-political fiasco. Is it possible to believe the words of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry about the desire of the country that kept our lands under occupation for peace? The answer is obvious - it's not worth it.

In particular, because they have not suffered any punishment from the United States and the EU. I repeat, for the umpteenth time, sanctions have not been imposed against Armenia. And this is despite the fact that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pointed out that according to our information, which is confirmed by other sources, more than 1 million mines were planted by the Armenians.

"And the most terrible thing is that the Armenians continued to lay mines after November 10, 2020. When we did not control the Lachin corridor, they brought mines there from Armenia, and we found them. And how did we find them? Because they have a production date of 2021. Made in Armenia. So they continued their mine terror against us even after the end of the Second Karabakh War," the head of our state stressed, speaking in Shusha.

He cited indisputable evidence of egregious crimes committed by the current Armenian government. The one from which the West is trying to mold the "pigeons of the world". In reality, all of them are criminals who were obliged to be convicted by the same US and EU themselves through the imposition of sanctions. This, as we all know, did not happen. And this fact is a big and indelible stigma on the body of those who sometimes try to demand condemnation... Azerbaijan.
